The one thing everyone can agree on is that life is full of too much… everything these days. There are 12 step skincare regimes with ingredients that sound more like a spell from Harry Potter than something you want on your face. There’s too much choice when it comes to picking something to watch with a glass of wine at the end of the day – you just end up finishing the bottle before you’ve decided on a film. And there’s too much abbreviating going on. WFH. IRL. IYKYK.

Well, TBH (sorry), we’ve decided to cut out the need for so much of… everything.

With one product you can get more of what you actually need, for inner and outer balance. This one product is (again, sorry, it’s another abbreviation) CBD.

What is CBD?

CBD stands for cannabidiol.

Cannabidiol is the second most prevalent active ingredient in cannabis plants.

Do I smell something..? How is CBD different to weed?

We know. We know. You’ve grown out of your uni days and you might be getting immediate flashbacks of that guy you dated at 22 who was excellent at baking – and we don’t mean the Mary Berry type.

CBD is not marijuana. Let’s make that clear.

CBD is just one of the hundreds of components that make up cannabis and by itself does not cause a high.

If you get the munchies after taking CBD, you’ve just not had a big enough lunch earlier in the day.

Tetrahydrocannabinol – or THC (there we go again, abbreviating) - is the main psychoactive ingredient found in cannabis that gives you the high, and CBD is most definitely not that.

So…is CBD legal?

Yes, but only when it’s produced by trustworthy people like The Mindful Muscle who know the difference between cannabis plants.

Just call us Bill Nye because we’re about to take you to science class.

Hemp and marijuana are both cannabis plants, with hemp referring to the non-psychoactive varieties of cannabis plants that contain less than 0.3% THC.

Marijuana refers to cannabis plants that contain more than 0.3% THC – they can even contain up to 30% THC. That’s high. (geddit? High… never mind).

CBD is legal in the UK when it’s extracted from hemp plants and contains less than 0.2% THC. The Mindful Muscle choose the very best, organically grown Cannabis Sativa L plants, with full traceability back to the seed the plant was grown from, so you’re getting the best of the good stuff.

How is it turned into an oil?

CBD can be used many ways but the most popular way is through turning it into an oil that you can ingest.

CBD oil is made by extracting CBD from the cannabis plant and then blending it with a carrier oil like coconut oil or hemp seed oil. This can then be mixed with other products to deliver a wide range of health and beauty benefits.

When you really know what you’re doing, you might even consider mixing CBD extract with organic MCT oil from coconuts and blueberry and lavender flavour from all natural plant terpenes. Then you might protect it in Miron Violet glass and call it CBD x BLUEBERRY & LAVENDER

Just spit balling here, obviously.

We’d not go as crazy as suggesting a powerful blend of Wild Mint and CBD or CBD and Orange Blossom *winks to camera*

Okay… but why? What are the benefits of CBD oil?

We get it – people have been burnt one too many times by snake oil salesmen and products that overpromise and underdeliver.

Does CBD have any real benefits or is it more gobbledyGOOP spouted off by the cult of Gwyneth, concocted late at night alongside the fading glow of her vagina-scented candles?

Well, oil be damned, there are several benefits of taking CBD oil that can help you find inner balance and calm.

From phones that never stop to workloads that refuse to drop, we face a lot in modern times. We get pulled in all different directions and that can start to pull us down – mentally, physically and spiritually.

Here at The Mindful Muscle, we also get that it’s not as easy to work on your mental gains as it is physical gains (or #Gainz, as the gym bros might say). That’s why we’re here, giving you the knowhow to flex your wellbeing muscles just as much as your physical ones through CBD oil.

We’re not just about lifting; we’re about lifting spirits and HIITing back against mental health taboos.

CBD is one such way we will help more people shape up their mindfulness. Known for a plethora of benefits, consider CBD oil the soothing balm for modern problems. From helping you to manage stress, supporting better sleep, ushering in a drop of calm and promoting order in an increasingly disordered world, CBD encourages a better way of being from the inside out.

Okay… but how?

First of all, how dare you not believe us. Jk. We get it. The wellness industry is, sadly, a prime target for people peddling nonsense at times.

Keeping up to date with the latest studies and findings, we are still learning about the powers of this absolute super-plant. But, in short, the body is designed to react to cannabinoids through a complex system called the Endocannabinoid System (ECS) - that’s right, we’re back to being Bill Nye AND abbreviating.

It is the third largest system in the human body and helps to regulate many of our essential bodily functions. Put simply – together, this system and cannabinoids help maintain the delicate balance of our bodies, or if you want to know what Bill would call it, homeostasis. Homeo, homeo, where for art thou Homeo?

Are there any negative side effects to CBD?

Acclaimed, trustworthy health studies and organisations are in agreement that, with all the information available to date, CBD does a mind, body and soul good.

Well, they wouldn’t quite phrase it that way – they’re lacking our flair, naturally.

What the likes of the World Health Organization have said before is that: "In humans, CBD exhibits no effects indicative of any abuse or dependence potential… and there is no evidence of public health related problems associated with the use of pure CBD.”

The bottom line

Whether you’re already well-versed in the world of CBD and you’re just looking for new luxury products to try, or you’re tempted to take your first steps down this wellness journey, The Mindful Muscle is the perfect partner.

Carefully chosen and only ever picked with purpose, our CBD drops could be the drop in the ocean that bring in a whole new tide for your wellbeing.
